The latest landing on our desk indicates that fallen speaker Jacob Oulanyah’s body has arrived at Entebbe Airport aboard an Ethiopian Airlines plane.
Immediately after the body arrived at the airport, it was handed over to the A-Plus funeral management.
Some of the dignitaries that received the body include Vice President Jessica Alupo, former Vice President Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Chief Justice Owiny Dollo, and the Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
At the airport, some cultural dancers performed the traditional Acholi dance, Bwola in honor of the deceased.
Oulanyah died on March 20th at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle in the United States.
The late Speaker was elected to that position on May 24, 2021, after defeating the former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, from May 2011 until May 2022.
Oulanyah was also a member of parliament representing the Omoro County Constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in Uganda’s Northern Region.
