Buyanja legislator dubbed Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Matia Kasaija as we report this, he is among the jubilation member of parliament who have been vetted as the independent candidates following his rival’s withdraw from the race.
Kyalimpa’s decision to give green lights to Kasaija came after he was appointed by the same minister and approved by HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as the new deputy director-general of Uganda Investment Authority.
According to the letter seen by this website, Museveni advised Kasaija that Kyalimpa’s terms of service should be in accordance with the institution’s guidelines.
Museveni’s letter to Kasaija approving Kyalimpa’s appointment reads;
“APPOINTMENT OF MR. PAUL KYALIMPA AS DEPUTY DIRECTOR GENERAL OF UGANDA INVESTMENT AUTHORITY
I refer to my conversation with you in Gulu last Wednesday regarding the above-mentioned person.
This is to authorise you to go ahead with the recruitment process and have the candidate appointed if found suitable.
The terms of service should be in accordance with the institution’s guidelines.”
It is from this narrative that Kyalimpa applied for withdrawing of his candidature as per the letter signed by Ipeto Aggrey James the returning officer Kibaale District addressed to the head election management reading thus;
“SUBMISSION OF DETAILS FOR WITHDRAWAL OF A PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE FOR BUYANJA COUNTY, KIBAALE ELECTORAL DISTRICT
The above subject matter refers,
This is to submit to you, the details of the candidate who has withdrawn from the Electorate Office of Directly Elected Member of Parliament for Buyanja County in Kibaale Electoral District.
Please refer to the attached copy of the withdraw letter and the declaration by Returning Officer of Hon. Matia Kasaija as Unopposed for Buyanja County in Kibaale Electoral District.”
