Tooro King Oyo, UIRI Institute Talks Bear Fruits As First Group Report For Training

Kampala: Following the Memorandum Of Understanding (MoU) signed between Tooro Kingdom and the Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) earlier this month, TheSpy Uganda has learnt that the first group of youths from the great Kingdom on Monday, 24, August 2020 reported at the institute and as we report they have started their vocational skills training meant to advance them into job creators other than job seekers.

The youth who were selected from all the 9 (Counties) Amasaza of the Kingdom, are to be trained in various disciplines in a bid to attain life skills in order to better their livelihoods as a solution to youth unemployment hence Kingdom’s development.

King Oyo Previously Signing MoU With UIRI Institute Namanve.

The development has been confirmed by His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV Amooti, who posted on his tweet thus;  “I am pleased to announce that the first group of #Tooro youth to benefit from the skills training under the MoU I signed with @UIRI2017 on 12 August 2020 have reported. Through skills training we will solve youth unemployment and give youth tools to achieve economic liberation.”

According to Owek.Kasaija Edward, the Youth Minister Tooro Kingdom who led the delegation, this is a great opportunity for the youth in Tooro to learn the hands on skills which will be a vital ingredient in solving youth unemployment and giving youth tools to achieve economic liberation.

 

Tooro Kingdom Statement About Youth Training At UIRI

In addition, according to the statement issued by Tooro Kingdom, His Majesty Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, thanked Prof. Charles G. Kwesiga, the Executive Director and the Uganda Industrial Research Institute for providing skills training and apprenticeship for youth from Tooro Kingdom.

“The Skills training marks the beginning of the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between Tooro Kingdom and the Uganda Industrial Research Institute that was signed by His Majesty King Oyo on Wednesday, 12th August 2020 during the King’s visit to the Institute’s facilities at Namanve and Nakawa.” Kingdom’s statement adds.

Tooro Youth (Students) At UIRI Institute Already Learning

The Memorandum of Understanding also includes the establishment of an Industrial Research Institute and the specialized King Oyo Science, Technology, Innovation and Industrialization Park in Tooro Kingdom.

These state-of-the-art facilities will offer hands on skills training, value addition and product development, technology development and transfer, business incubation, quality control, business development services, research and development as well as commercializing, mass production and manufacturing of primary, secondary and tertiary industrial products.

“The strategic partnership between Tooro Kingdom and Uganda Industrial Research Institute is born of His Majesty King Oyo’s vision for a better life and prosperity for the People and Kingdom of Tooro.” reads statement.

According to King Oyo, his aspiration is to make Tooro Kingdom a model for Sustainable Development starting with ending poverty and youth unemployment, adding that he is confident that through skills training, all the Kingdom’s challenges will be solved.
