Kyenjojo, Uganda: At least five people, of which four are from the same family, are believed to have perished in a nasty accident that occurred in Western Uganda this morning.
Kyenjojo District Police Commander DPC James Kawalya says the accident occurred along Kyenjojo – Kamwenge road at around 10:00Am when a lorry registration number UBD 474F knocked a motorcycle Bajaj Boxer registration number UET 738Q that was carrying four passengers, all from the same family.
The victims were identified as Erias Muhereza, 28, the motorcyclist, and a resident of Karokarungi village in Kahunge Sub County, Kamwenge district, Dinah Tindimutuna, 85, and her grandchildren; Carolyn Kamusiime and Denis Muhangi. The third child is yet to be identified. Kawalya attributes the accident to reckless driving and disregard of traffic regulations. He says that the lorry driver, who is still on the run, was driving on the right hand side of the road instead of keeping left when he crashed into the overloaded motorcycle. The bodies of the deceased were later taken to Kyenjojo Hospital for postmortem as instigations into the incident continue.
