Kampala: According to the leaked budget seen by this website, the burial ceremony of Bank of Uganda Governor Emmanuel Mutebile will only UGX409 million despite having signed billions of billions and left trillions of trillions in circulation.
Among those prioritized on the budget include food and drinks which will consume over UGX200 million, security at UGX131 million, transport at over UGX244 million among others as seen below;
Mutebile passed on aged 73 on Sunday, 23 January 2022 after suffering from diabetes and related complications while undergoing treatment in Nairobi, Kenya.
Before holding the portfolio of Governor, Bank of Uganda, Mutebile held various high level positions in the government including; Permanent Secretory in charge of Economic Affairs, Office of the Prime Minister, from September 1985 to May 1986; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Planning & Economic Development from May 1986 to 1992 and; Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Treasury, Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, April 1992 to May 1998 and then governor till he died.
His burial ceremony is expected to take place on Sunday, January 30, 2022 and according to the program, the session will begin at Rugarama Cathedral while Mutebile will be laid to rest at his home in Omuruhita on the Kabale-Kisoro road.
