The organizer of Freedom City concert that left over 10 dead, Abbey Musinguzi aka Abtex has been arrested to help police in the investigations.
This has been revealed by the Uganda Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga who says the partiers died due to organizer’s negligence.
Enanga says the organizer didn’t plan how people will move in and out of the mall during the fireworks time which caused chaos at the entrance thus a stampede.
“Security had locked four other exits and entries and the revelers had to use one point of entry and exit. Therefore, several victims were trapped and tramped upon through the narrow passage which became a bottleneck for many, mostly juveniles,” says Enanga.
He adds, “The organisers tend to put profits before safety of revelers and in this incident did the same to avoid gate crashers. There are over 5000 attendees, why should someone block all the other entries and exits and use only one place.”
