NEC FC’s perfect start to the 2022/23 FUFA Big League campaign came to and end on Thursday following a goalless stalemate with Mbarara City at Coffee grounds Bugolobi.
Coming to match day four, the diehards had collected maximum points from all their three games played. Nevertheless, NEC stays top of the table with ten points three points away from second place Kitara FC who will be away to Lugazi FC on Friday.
Captain Marvin Kavuma returned from injury which was the highlight of the game for NEC FC but that did not save the day.
Meanwhile, Ndejje University FC registered their first victory of the campaign after edging Kataka FC in a seven goals thriller at FUFA technical center, Njeru.
Goals from Brian James Obedi, Denis Otim, Elia Asiimwe and Samuel Nsubuga sealed the win for the Ndejje Lions while Francis Odongo, David Zaake and Latif Ssenkubuge scored for Kataka.
However the most inspiring moment of the game was that Ndejje University came from down two times to win the game.
Coach Raymond Komaketch’s men reduced to ten following Norman Ndyamuhaki’s red card in the 35th minute but six minutes later, Kataka’s Lazarus Ocire was also sent off for a high boot challenge on Ndejje’s Otim.
A win puts the Ndejje Lions in the ninth place with four points while Kataka seats in sixth with the same points. Both teams return to action on Thursday 10th as Kataka visit Mbarara City while Ndejje University host Calvary at Bombo military Barracks grounds.
