Fufa President Magogo Welcomes Uganda U-17 Team, Hails Stakeholders for Historic World Cup Qualification

FUFA President Hon. Eng. Magogo Moses Hassim officially welcomed the Uganda U-17 national team back home following their historic qualification for the FIFA U-17 World Cup. In a press address held at Sheraton Hotel, Magogo expressed heartfelt appreciation to all stakeholders whose combined efforts made the achievement possible.

A Grand Welcome and Gratitude

Magogo began his speech by acknowledging and appreciating the immense support received from various entities and individuals. He thanked the Government of Uganda, the FUFA Executive Committee, parents, schools, academies (with special mention of Chairman Roberts Kiwanuka and his team at the Uganda Youth Football Association), and clubs like Vipers SC and KCCA FC for their roles in developing and supporting the young players.

Tributes to the Team and Technical Staff

The FUFA President reserved special praise for the players, lauding their hard work, resilience, and dedication, which he said were pivotal to the team’s success. He also commended the coach and technical staff for their tactical discipline and commitment throughout the qualification journey.

Saluting Supporters and Partners

Magogo did not forget the role of the media, fans, and other partners. He applauded the media for giving the team the spotlight they deserved and the fans for their unwavering support. In a special mention, he appreciated former national team player Mr. Ali Semyalo, who supported the team while in Morocco.

Delivering messages of congratulations from His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda and First Lady & Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, Magogo emphasized that the team’s qualification had made the entire nation proud.

Strategic Investment in Youth Football

He attributed the team’s success to FUFA’s strategic planning and intentional investment in grassroots football. Magogo highlighted several FUFA initiatives that have contributed to this milestone, including the FUFA U17 Juniors League, the Odilo Cup for primary schools, and the FUFA TV Cup for secondary schools. He also credited Uganda’s participation in CAF and FIFA youth competitions as key development pathways.

Technical Master Plan Launched

Reaffirming FUFA’s commitment to nurturing football talent, Magogo announced the launch of the Technical Master Plan (TMP), which focuses on identifying and developing young players through structured and sustainable programs. He stressed the importance of early talent identification, continuous development, and strategic investment as pillars of future success.

In conclusion, Magogo emphasized that Uganda’s qualification for the U-17 World Cup is just the beginning. He reiterated that hard work, dedication, and proper planning remain essential in sustaining Uganda’s presence on the global football stage.
