Ugandans have been left wondering whether their elected MPs are just greedy or patriotic and earger to serve in several capacities.
They include the country’s incumbent parliament Deputy Speaker, Anita Among who is seemingly not satisfied with the position she is holding thus efforts to occupy the fallen bosses’ office.
Citing medical reasons, Among who was earlier seen at parliament did not show up in-person but declared her candidacy through her personal assistant, Mary Athieno, who picked her nomination forms from the NRM Secretariat.
The late Speaker was elected to that position on May 24, 2021, after defeating the former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
He had also served as Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, from May 2011 until May 2021.
Oulanyah was also a member of parliament representing the Omoro County Constituency, Omoro District, Acholi sub-region, in Uganda’s Northern Region.
