Full List:Successful Candidates To Stand On NRM Tickets Ready To Chop Money Till 2026 Revealed

Kampala: After National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections, the party’s Electoral Commission Chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi has released full list of nominated candidates to participate in 2020 party primary elections.

Some Of The Candidates Nominated.

Among the positions to be elected for include the position of constituency Members of Parliament, District Chairmen LCV, woman Member of Parliament, Lord mayors and City mayors.

However Tanga Odoi said that an updated list will be released after completion of nomination of candidates for the newly-created Constituencies/Cities & older persons MPs.

These come after yesterday Minister of Energy a member of NRM party, Mary Goretti Kitutu with NRM head of Women’s League, Lydia wanyoto who is aspiring for Mbale parliamentary seat were seen holding mass campaign rallies  without observing COVID-19 guidelines and flouting Presidential guidelines meant to curb the virus.

The development follows Koboko Woman Member of Parliament who is struggling to retain her seat, Minister Evelyn Anite’s video that has been circulating on various social media platforms showing her agents holding with posters holding a campaign rally in Koboko.

Other NRM leaders who have been seen flouting COVID-19 guidelines set by the government include Minister Of Health Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng who was seen holding a political rally in Lira district without observing COVID-19 guidelines, and NRM Vice chairman Eastern Region George Michael Mukula who was also seen holding a political rally in the church despite their continuous closure.

However, in defense the above leaders have always responded to angry Ugandans that they don’t call those crowds but instead people gather over excitement of seeing their leaders.

While appearing in several public forums to defend the exercise that some have dubbed a ‘scientific election’, Justice Simon Mugenyi Byabakama, the EC chairperson, stressed that Article 61(2) of the Constitution requires the EC to hold the forthcoming elections within the first 30 days of the last 120 days before the expiration of the current term of the president, notwithstanding the government’s anti-coronavirus measures which, among others, ban public meetings, including political rallies.

However there is still doubts whether the above will be observed basing on the examples of some members in the political environment who have been noticed flouting both EC roadmap and Ministry Of Health guidelines despite coronavirus rapid transmission that has since led to death of twenty (20) Ugandans.
