Detained former Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura has accused internal security Organisation (ISO) of fabricating fake ‘evidence’ against him to pin him during the impending Court Martial battle that the now troubled general is likely to face.
Through his lawyers of Kampala Associated Advocates led by Jet Tumwebaze, bitter Gen. Kayihura has criticised ISO operatives of disturbing his peace by forging and parading fake suspects who will be witnesses in courts of law.
While speaking at their offices in Kampala, counsel Tumwebaze revealed that where matters have reached now, UPDF and ISO should release Kayihura or take him to court as soon as possible.
“He is really bitter with the way ISO operatives are giving falsehoods to media to run every day,” he said.
He added “we have been silent and quiet after meeting military several times but the matter has run out of hands after learning that the people we’ve been dealing with are leaking fake information against our client”.
Jet said that Kayihura joined UPDF with a committed heart to serve and is still loyal to be military.
Former Police boss has been detained at Makindye Military Barracks for more than a month now with no clear charges atleast for now. Kayihura suspects ISO is buying time to forge evidence against him.
Gen Kayihura was airlifted from his farm in Kashagama, Lyantonde District and later taken to meet with the Chief of Defence Forces Gen David Muhoozi at the army headquarters in Mbuya, Kampala last month.
