Mbuya, Kampala: Newly promoted UPDF Deputy Spokesperson from the rank of Lt. Colonel to full Colonel Deo Akiiki seems to be smiling ear to ear following news of sending him to go and boost his academic and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College.
In the same vein, the Commander in Chief of all armed forces (CiC) Gen.Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa who doubles as President of the Republic of Uganda has appointed Lt.Col Ronald Kakurungu as the new Deputy spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense and Uganda People’s Defense Force, replacing media friendly Deo Akiiki.
“I thank the UPDF Leadership for nominating me to go and further my studies and military career at the Senior Command and Staff College. Karibu Ndugu Lt Col Ronald Kakurungu to take charge of the office of the Deputy spokesperson of the ministry and UPDF. Alluta Continua,” Akiiki confirmed the development via his twiter handle.

For those who didn’t know, Col Deo Akiiki, is a graduate of strategic security studies at the National Defence University in Washington DC, USA. Akiiki has been the deputy army spokesperson since March 2017 when he was appointed to that position.
On the other hand, Lt Col Kakurungu has served in various positions as an army publicist, including speaking for UPDF second Division.
He came into limelight at the peak of the UPDF intervention into the Rwenzururu Kingdom to stop anarchy by the Kingdom’s royal guards in 2016. He regularly engaged the public through the media on latest developments.
