Kampala: Elegant models competing for the Miss Tourism 2019-2020 crown were unveiled on Saturday September 13, 2019 at Serena Hotel, Kampala.
The event which kicked off at around 8:00Pm, was graced by Sarah Kagingo the newly elected Chairperson Miss Tourism Uganda, CEO Breeze Serenity Spa and Saloon Alexis Kiiza, Miss Tourism 2017-2018 Challa Elma Kapel from Karamoja, Miss Tourism 2013-2014 Aisha Nagudi Okot, Members from the private sector, representatives from Uganda Wild Life Authority (UWA) and Uganda Wildlife Education Conservation Centre (UWEC) among others.
Three models were selected from each region in Uganda, after a grueling catwalk exercise and these beauties hail from Uganda’s 11 regions: Ankole, Buganda, Kigezi, Tooro, Karamoja, Bunyoro, Teso, Busoga, West Nile, Northern and Bugisu. These beauties representing their regions, started by walking up the stage and introducing themselves to the audience.
Thereafter, all of them were called back on the stage, walking beautifully with their smiles and shimmering crowns perched on their heads and the audience clapped joyously at the sight of them.

The sexy models later wowed the audience with their catwalk sessions, and showcased various fashion styles, until the even came to a grand end with Kagingo telling the audience to expect a lot more at the grand finale.
The grand finale is scheduled for October 4, 2019, and the winner is expected to become the country’s tourism ambassador, who will join efforts to promote Uganda’s tourism sector.
The winner will also scoop a land tittle from Sema Properties, one of the sponsors.
Richard Kawere, representing the Private Sector Foundation Uganda, thanked the organizers of the event and urged Government to put more effort in sanitizing its citizens on how beautiful their country is.
The Uganda Wildlife Education Conservation Centre (UWEC) PRO, Ms Musimenta Scovia, noted that by promoting domestic tourism through beauty, the Miss Tourism will convince the domestic tourist of the products found in our protected areas.
“It is also expected to promote UWA’s image, tourism products, services, activities and facilities to targeted stakeholders, customers and the public through branding and promotional materials during the pageant activities,” Musimenta said.
She added that the event is meant to reinstall our lost African cultural values, and said that before contestants come to stage, they first go through Conservation education.
Musimenta also added that as mothers of the event, UWEC shall always support Miss Tourism.
Aisha Nagudi Okot, the Miss tourism 2013 – 2014, eulogized the late Minister for tourism Maria Mutagamba and thanked her for having come up with the Miss tourism Idea.
She urged Ugandans to market, and advertise their country in good things, instead of only bad ones, and advised Ugandans not to be confined in one area, requesting them to tour their country.
The Chairperson Miss tourism Miss Kagingo thanked Ugandans for having attended the 7th edition of the Miss Tourism pageant and urged people to use social media in supporting tourism by marketing Uganda.
She also called upon Ugandans to be part of the grand finale of the Miss tourism 2019 at Serena Hotel on October 4 2019
