Kampala: Dark clouds hovered over Nakawa magistrate’s court on Monday morning when the family of late Henry Katanga ,a filthy rich man, suspected to have been killed by his own ‘soulmate’, Molly Katanga (widow to the now deceased).
Following the court’s decision to adjourn the matter to December 18th 2023 and January 8th for Molly Katanga (widow to the late) and Martha Katanga (daughter to the late), an elderly and seemingly looking very disturbed Ms.Naome Nyangweso, sister to late Katanga, stood outside court and in the rain and told journalists that it’s no doubt that her brother was killed by the greedy babarian, Molly Katanga over family wealth, which she wants to control. Our Spy has independently learnt that both Katanga and his wife were running a company that supplies guns and food to UPDF, and now you need not to wonder why security is at the center stage of the saga.
“She wanted property, she’s not sick as she is alleging but the state is protecting her we don’t know why,” Naome cried out.
Katanga ‘s niece, Marjorie Nyangweso also told journalists that the family is aware of the money exchanging hands in various power centers, including Media to protect the widow who is the prime suspect in the murder.
“Just a day after his death, his very daughter who is in prison, withdrew over shs300m after her mother signed the cheques , you wonder how a person who claims to be in critical condition could sign cheques. But that money and other monies is what was paid to security operatives and some media houses to write screwed news to protect her,” she added.
It’s worth remembering that recent updates from insiders revealed that Katanga was allegedly murdered hours before he appended his signature on a WILL that he had prepared a week earlier and kept it in a safe box inside his office.
According to sources, prior to his death, Katanga had prepared the necessary paperwork documenting all his wealth and had only shared that secret with his sister, Naome Nyangweso and his lawyer.
Sources further revealed to our Spy that Katanga had also warned his sister whom he reached out to using a different phone which he would also lock inside the safe box in his office to be mindful of evil-minded individuals who were trailing both of them at the time.
Katanga was shot dead on a morning of November 2, 2023 inside his bedroom after an alleged misunderstanding with his wife Molly Katanga, whom he worked with at their procurement and supplies firm called MERGE.
The two had penetrated the system and would transact with government agencies huge classified budgets.
At the time of his death, a source within the family revealed that Katanga had just made a transaction of shs16 billion.
“Besides working with Molly, he had other different lines of making his own money including money lending. He had so far gotten shs16 billion,” a source who preferred anonymity told our Spy recently.
At the same time, Naome also revealed that Katanga’s lawyer was aware of the death threats that his client was facing and his death did not surprise him that is why he(Katanga) was racing against time to finish the WILL which was never a success.
While as Katanga could have prepared and signed the will a little earlier, he was busy with arrangements for giveaway and wedding functions for his foster daughter Patricia alias Tricia for over two weeks prior to his death.
Tricia is among the suspects, and she was remanded to Luzira prison on murder charges. At the time of the shooting, Tricia confirmed to police that she was present and revealed how her father and mother got a misunderstanding before she heard a gunshot.
While as all these tragic moments continue to unfold, Molly Katanga, the alleged key suspect in the gruesome murder is heavily guarded by security operatives at IHK hospital in Muyenga where Katanga’s family members say she is merely ‘lodging with self-inflicted wounds’ to invade justice.
Kampala businessman Barnabas Taremwa and Gen Freddie Karara Machwa recently demanded that Molly Katanga should join her co-accused persons in Luzira prison where they asserted that there are good enough facilities to take good care of her if she is sick and genuinely unwell as she claims.
Their demands come after the DPP preferred murder charges against her (Molly Katanga) but she was not remanded as expected as the duo claimed that sacks of money were being exchanged to frustrate the process by the DPP and Courts of law to get to the truth.
They (Taremwa and Machwa) also revealed that there were threatening phone calls to their lawyers (Frank Kanduho and Paul Kutesa) vowing to end their lives in the same way Henry Katanga met his death.
Following the threats, the lawyers later announced the withdrawal of their inquest application whose objective was to demand court-level inquiry into what exactly happened.
