It has been confirmed that Liverpool’s Naby Keita will miss the Champions League final match with Tottenham on June 1, 2019 due to a groin injury
The midfielder limped out of Liverpool’s semi-final first leg with Barcelona and has been battling to get fit for the final. A scan following that match revealed he had ruptured a tendon and it was hoped he may be back in time. He missed the final few weeks of the Premier League season and that incredible comeback match against Barcelona at Anfield.
The Guinean international was even a surprise inclusion in Liverpool’s squad that travelled to Marbella for a training camp ahead of this week’s final. This left Reds fans hoping it may mean he would be back in time for the Tottenham clash with Jurgen Klopp wanting to keep him involved with the main squad. Keita was even included in the provisional Guinea squad for the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts next month, and their manager was hopeful he will be fit for that. But  the £52.75million signing from RB Leipzig last summer has not made it in time due to the ruptured tendon in his groin.
