Uganda Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga has revealed that the PSO gun that was terrorizing residents in Mukono, is from TOP SECURITY COMPANY Limited.
He says the security guard who allegedly lost the gun, a one Oluka Robert aged 25, was arrested from Busembatya district.
Enanga said these during weekly press briefing to journalists at Police Headquarters Naguru where he revealed that the Directorate of Crime Intelligence has picked credible information of increased threats towards private security guards, who are being targeted for their firearms by criminals.
He noted that the individual private security guards, they should know that working as a security guard is a dangerous occupation. ”Physical attacks of violence like assaults is the leading cause of deadly security guard injuries. These occur at lone guard points and during lone movements.”
”Although we acknowledge the rapidly growing demand for private security, by property owners and other private citizens, we want to warn all owners and proprietors of private security companies, to enhance the safety of their personnel, by avoiding lone deployments and lone movements, while walking on foot or riding to and from their guard points,” says Enanga.
He says the best way to keep security guards safe is to equip them with the necessary tools and effectively deploy them in pairs at minimum something he says will enable them work and go home safely at the end of their shift.
