According to reports from the Ministry of Health, the country has registered 163,996 COVID-19 cases ever since the pandemic broke out in Uganda in March 2020.

In the last 24 hours, the Ministry says results of COVID-19 tests done on 9 April 2022 confirmed 3 new cases. The breakdown of the new cases is: 2 Alerts and Contacts: Kampala (1), Adjumani (1) 1 truck driver from Amuru.

Uganda has administered at least 17,605,945 doses of COVID vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs 2 doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 19.9% of the country’s population.
The Covid-19 pandemic has continued its strong decline in the world, according to World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

“It is encouraging to see that there’s from COVID-19 are now declining globally and in most regions and it’s pleasing to see some countries being able to relax restrictions without their health systems being overwhelmed,” he said.
Speaking further, the WHO boss however said it might be too early to declare victory over COVID-19, saying there are still many countries with high rates of hospitalization and low rates of vaccine coverage and design transmission.
“Our expectation is that the acute phase of this pandemic will end this year, of course with one condition, the 70 percent vaccination [target is achieved] by mid this year around June, July,” he says.
