Kampala: The heavy rains that ravaged several parts of Uganda on Tuesday have disrupted Eid El-Fitr prayers across the country.
The rains that had hailstones in it flooded pitches, mosques and other places where Muslims had organised prayers. Muslims affected were in areas of Kampala and Mukono. However, later after the rain stopping, the prayers resumed amidst the wetness, after which Muslims returned to the various homes to celebrate Eid day.
Muslims around the world are celebrating Eid, marking the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadhan. Post-Ramadan prayers and celebration took place in Mosques across the country, following confirmation of the day by the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council –UMSC. The National prayers were held at the Uganda National Mosque in Old Kampala led by the Mufti of Uganda, Sheik Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje.
