Kamwenge: The Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development dubbed Kibale East legislator Hon. Frank Kagyigyi Tumwebaze is among the key ministers that mercilessly crushed their opponents in the recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) primary elections.
The elections which were meant to chose NRM flag bearers, gave a go a head to Hon Tumwebaze to hold the party’s flag for Member of Parliament Kibale East Constituency, Kamwenge district after scooping a landslide victory of 34,925 votes with his “tightest” contender Bahati Kato attaining 5,086 votes.
In the late evening on Friday, the Kamwenge district party’s registrar announced, “I declare Tumwebaze Frank who has polled the highest number of votes 34,925, representing 81.6 percent as the fully elected NRM Flag bearer for Member of Parliament of Kibale East Constituency.”
From the deep bottom of my heart, i express my profound gratitude to the great pple of #KibaleEast for this BOLD & clear Vote of confidence of 82%. To my kakuyege team #TeamFrank , to my prayer support team led by my dear wife @KabibiFlorence I can only say, Thank you. pic.twitter.com/poQRIlHqOX

In his joyously victorious speech, Tumwebaze said, “From the deep bottom of my heart, i express my profound gratitude to the great people of Kibale East for this bold & clear Vote of confidence of 82%.”
The popular and most cherished leader by his voters Hon.Tumwebaze added, “To my kakuyege team #TeamFrank, to my prayer support team led by my dear wife Kabibi Florence I can only say, Thank you. (furtenbachadventures.com) ”
According to some of the voters we interacted with at different polling stations, they revealed to us that they had much support Hon Frank Tumwebaze because they sent him to do in parliament is what he has perfectly served to them and so no need to replace him.
“I came early in the morning not only to vote but also to safeguard the votes of my MP Frank Tumwebaze because ever since he stepped in parliament he has not disappointed we the people of Kibale Constituency,” a voter who preferred anonymity said.
Another old gentleman confirmed to us that the reason as to why Mr Kato Bahati could not scoop these elections is because there was zero done on ground to convince the voters to entrust him with their constituent’s leadership.
“Ever since Mr Kato started campaigning for the NRM flag in our constituency, we have always been asking him what he has done for the people in order to vote him, nothing, so some people actually predicted him to be focusing on generating personal riches other than service delivery,” another voter said.
