Kampala: Just like it has always been during festive seasons, the Uganda Bus Owners Association (UBOA) yesterday announced a hike in transport fares with effect from today.
According to its statement, the Association says the increment is a result of increased costs of operation including the escalating fuel prices and COVID-19 SOPs including 50% of passengers per bus trip.
As we report this, Uganda’s fuel prices are the highest in East Africa at Ugx 4,590 per litre followed by Burundi’s Shs 4,290. Tanzania has the lowest price of Shs 3,780 per litre, Rwanda Shs4,060, and Kenya, Shs4,180.
