Kampala: The General Overseer of the National Fellowship of Born Again Pentecostal Churches of Uganda (NFBPC), His Grace Archbishop Dr. Moses Odongo has strongly condemned the attack on Pastor Alloysious Bujingo. The assailants armed with guns targeted Pastor Bujingo resulting into the tragic death of his driver, Muhumuza Richard.
Expressing deep concern, Archbishop Odongo conveyed the church’s shock and condemnation of such violence against a religious leader.
”As the church, we are appalled by this act on a religious leader and we strongly condemn it. We pray for quick recovery of Pastor Bujingo and commiserate with him over the loss of his
personal drive” The Archbishop said in statement.
Revealing the collective dismay and shock of the entire fellowship of born again churches, Archbishop Odongo urged security agencies to vigorously pursue the assailants to ensure justice for Pastor Bugingo and his slain driver.
”We request that security agencies hunt down these assassins, have them arrested and brought to face the law for their inhumane actions. We further call for a full investigation into this assassination attempt to establish the motive behind it” he noted.
According to police investigations, the attackers opened fire on Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD along Namungona Zone 2, Kasubi Rubaga Division, Kampala, at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road. The assailants fled the scene on a motorcycle after the attack which happened at around 9:00pm.

”Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to transport the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. Regrettably, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital. Currently, Pastor Bugingo is undergoing medical treatment and is under close monitoring” Police said in a statement after the attack.
Shortly after being admitted to Mulago National Referral Hospital, Pastor Bugingo was later discharged for further medical attention at his home.
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, a Ugandan born-again pastor and businessman, serves as the Director of Salt Media Group of Companies and leads the House of Prayer Ministries church in Makerere, Kikoni, Kampala.
Renown and controversial, Pastor Bugingo was recently named the most influential born-again preacher by the East Africa Book of Records.
