Kampala: It is a sad moment in Kanungu after a newly recruited Special Police Constable committed suicide by setting himself ablaze following an incident of his wife throwing him out of her house.
According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate who identified the deceased as Abeireho Lovis, on 13th February 2021, the family got some misunderstandings that left the wife unhappy.
Maate adds that the next news they got yesterday evening was that Abeireho poured petrol into himself and set himself ablaze.
“It was yesterday evening that this officer near their home poured petrol on him self and set himself ablaze and residents tried to rescue him by rushing him to Katate Health centre IV in Kanungu Town,” said Elly Maate
He adds that the officer was later in the evening referred to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital but unfortunately, on their way around Kambuga, he was pronounced dead.
Maate said that since the deceased parents were formally residents of Rukiga district but migrated to Kyegegwa district in Tooro Region, the ambulance directly conveyed the body to Kyegegwa where a postmortem will be done from.
The case has been registered at Kanungu Central Police Station under reference No SD 13/16/02/2021 to help in Investigations.
