House Of Dawda Chairman Scoops Humanitarian SDG Award In Kenya For Supporting Kibero Slam Youth

Dr.Husmukh Purshottam Dawda, Founding Chairman and proprietor of House Of Dawda (Uganda) and House of Manji (Kenya) has been awarded with a humanitarian award for his invaluable role he has been playing in promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the region.

The awarding ceremony was held on Friday 20th December 2019 in Nyayo House, Kenya and was organized by SDGs implementation committee, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) working in Kenya.

“This is to certify that Dr.Hasmukh Purshottam Dawda has been awarded certificate of recognition during the Annual NGOs/CSOs 4th Edition of SDGs Awards 2019 for exemplary community service and SDGs implementation in Kenya,” the certificate reads in part.

According to the certificates seen by this on-line newspaper, Dawda was recognized and awarded in his personal capacity and his foundation, Dawda Foundation for his exemplary leadership in steering the foundation and for imparting practical skills into ghetto youth.

His umbrella group, House of Dawda Uganda is the pioneer manufacturer of fresh fruit juice, Splash, an assortment of Biscuits and tomato sauces under Britania Allied Ind.Ltd while House of Manji-Kenya produces an assortment of Biscuits among other products.

While receiving the award, Dr Dawda thanked all those who participated in the voting for House of Dawda and advised people to stop blame game and instead work with each other to create a conducive environment for everybody to survive and prosper in the world. “We should all work together. We should stop blaming corruption, government or anyone but instead blame ourselves. What are you doing as an individual, NGO or CSO to protect the climate for instance?,” he asked.

Dawda continued; “We are tired of conferences where millions are spent but in the end there are no results. We should all get together and implement what’s supposed to be done. The problem starts in your mind, then you look for the solution,” he said.

Britania are also involved in large scale farming, warehousing, apartment complexes, among other ventures and the conglomerate is estimated to be worth over USD500M, with assets of over USD300M.

The Britania biscuit manufacturing in Kampala, was set up in 1991 by the House of Dawda group – a group which has been in existence since 1962 in the East African region, pioneered by Dr Hasmukh Dawda.
