Kampala: Rural Broadcasters Association (RUBA) members are warming up for their first ever conference slated for Thursday 30th November, 2023 at Protea Hotel in Kampala under the theme: ”Empowering Local Voices, Building strong communities”.
The conference which is expected to attract over 100 media owners and managers will be graced by the Minister for ICT and national guidance, Hon. Dr. Chris Baryomunsi as the Chief Guest along side other keynote speakers including, Eng. Irene Kagwa Sewankambo, the Director for Engineering and Communication Infrastructure at Uganda communications commission(UCC), Paul Bukenya, PRO Independent Electoral Commission, Kin Kariisa, CEO Next Media services and Chairman National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), Samuel Guma, ED Uganda Radio Network among others.
Our sources have since established that during the conference, participants and keynote speakers will address several issues including;
- The role of media in driving national agenda
- How media houses can drive profitability and commercial viability in changing times.
- Producing local content for Ugandan citizens.
- Challenges in ensuring media houses comply with set licensing requirements, among others.
RUBA is an Association of regional and upcountry media owners whose work involves promoting the interests of the community broadcasting in strategic geographic areas under the Chairmanship of Julius Tumusiime who is also the Director BFM in Bushenyi.
The association brings together over 160 radio stations, online news platforms, newspapers and televisions. The CEO of this very mighty paper, who doubles as president Independent online journalists Association indoja-U, Andrew Irumba Katusabe is among the expected guests at the Media CEOs’ conference, and will bring you up to speed with all the happenings there.
