Inspector General of Police, Martins Okoth Ochola has made some key changes in the Force’s top leadership that have seen Senior Commissioner of Police, James Apora being appointed as acting Director of Police Fire and Rescue Services.
Apora who has been Commandant of the Police Marine Unit replaces AIGP Joseph Mugisa whose contract expired awaiting President Yoweri Museveni for renewal.
Ochola also appointed Commissioner of Police, Franklin Kugonza as acting Deputy Director in Charge of Fleet Management. He also appointed Commissioner of Police, Irene Emeri as Deputy Director Logistics Directorate.
These are the latest changes made by Ochola this year, he last made key changes in the Force in May last year. Key among the changes then is Julius Twinomujuni who was in charge of the Anti-Corruption desk who was sent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the in charge for human trafficking whereas Mark Odongo was appointed to head the Special Investigations Division in Kireka as the commandant.
The changes also saw Venus Tumuhimbise from the Ministry of Internal Affairs appointed as the new deputy CID director whereas Paul Kato was appointed to the Anti-Money Laundering Task force and Chelimo Beata as the deputy CID director in charge of Economic Fraud and Anti-corruption from the Special Investigations Unit.
