‘I’m Deeply Sorry’; DP’s Mao Apologizes To Scribes For Late Coming

By Andrew Irumba

Kampala: Democratic Party president Norbert Mao has issued an apology to journalists in Kampala for late coming and not being able to address a weekly DP press conference  on Tuesday this week as is the norm.

In his apology letter  dated August 13, 2019,  titled “To All Journalists Who Came for the DP Press Conference of 13/08/2019”, Mao writes thus;

I sincerely apologize for  coming late for the weekly DP Press Conference scheduled for Tuesday August 13, 2019 at 10:00Am. I was informed that you left the building in protest before I arrived. This is understandable and we have noted your concern. You made your point. While my delay was the result of events outside my control, I truly regret that I arrived late. I value your time and it was never my intention to inconvenience you.”

 He goes on to state that  “ We are currently taking steps to ensure that our Press Conferences start on time and that I am never late again. I take complete responsibility for the entire sad episode and I hope that the healthy relationship between the media fraternity and the Democratic Party shall continue.”

However, it is not yet     clear what made Mao so late that he missed the weekly press briefing, because this is the first time for the same to happen ever since the year began.
