If you have been an ardent fan of Joseph Tamale Mirundi, especially, if you have been using him as your source of information, my ‘broda’, start making new friends in the media Industry. This because, the ‘barking dog’ of president Museveni has been silenced for an indefinite period of time, Spy Uganda reports.
“Yee…s, it’s true I’m done with NBSTV (One on One With Tamale Mirundi), these mafias think they can bring me down, me me me? I am very arrogant fellow, apologize for what? I should apologize because they’ve eaten Corona money? Ejoogo eja bagwaamu. But I’m starting my own TV in four months,” Tamale responded when our reporter contacted him for a comment on the matter.
On the sidelines, we’ve however learnt that it’s not only NBSTV Tamale won’t appear on soon,but rather the entire media Industry,just like it happened to out spoken Frank Gashumba.
From Monday 15 June 2020, he has been banned from being hosted on any media house till further notice. Although other sources claim the order came from the president himself after a group of CEOs reported Mirundi over what they described as ‘saboteur and a gun for hire’ in town, Mirundi said they’re simply mudslinging the president to make their preferred choices (of barring him from media) look like backed by president, whereas not. “That’s how mafias work, if they’re saying that president sanctioned my ban, let any fool produce a letter from president. That’s how they operate,they stole Corona money and through NBS TV were pushing for an apology, me? Some took shs5B, they now want me to add them more shs10B through court, ejoogo ejja bagw’amu,” Tamale said.
Mirundi, on phone told this reporter that Dr.Diana Atwine (PS MoH), Minister Frank Tumwebaze and veteran journalist mortal mouthed Andrew Mwenda had jointly sued him, together with NBS TV over defamation related charges emanating from among others, Covid19 money, which he alleges they diverted.
When Tamale Mirundi was being fired from State House few years ago, it was veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda who spearheaded the move, according to Mirundi. It is now rumored that still Mwenda was back again to put the final nail in Mirundi’s coffin, so he could humble himself back in village life in his home District, Rakai.
“Tamale didn’t know where to stop. He attacked many people close to the President. He attacked businessmen that many termed as flawless. Although Tamele had made minister Frank Tumwebaze, Andrew Mwenda and Robert Kabushenga as his biggest enemies, he had equally made good friends with numerous city businessmen such as Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia, SK Mbuga, Bryan White, Ham among other big shots in town, our sources added.
Tamale has been very critical of both Government and opposition failures, though he defended only one institution in his life, the first family. He has of recent been very critical towards the Covid-19 pandemic national task force on how it has been using the received resources. Could this have been Mirundi’s most undoing?
Mirundi didn’t feature on his Monday evening talkshow on Top Radio, which more confirmed the fact that the witchcraft this Rakai fellow has been boasting in could be a ‘kiwaani’.
When this reporter called Mr.Tamale Mirundi, the caller tune in his phone had nothing to do with witchcraft, it had everything to do with Christianity. Can we say God works in mysterious ways and this could be Mirundi’s turning point?
Who Is Tamale Mirundi?
Joseph Tamale Mirundi is a Ugandan journalist, author and controversial political social economic analyst. He is former presidential press secretary, and current senior presidential advisor on media.
Tamale was a part-time writer at Munno newspaper and vendor even before he had become a professional journalist. In 2017, he was suspended with His One On One show, for use of abusive language. He was recently rewarded by President Yoweri Museveni with a brand new car for his Media work. In 2015, his contested first wife Juliet Nassimbwa wanted divorce with him over political Party differences. He shocked the world in 2019 when he alleged that he had been poisoned.
Mirundi was taken to court by lawyer Male Mabirizi over defamation charges previously but the case has never seen light. Watch the space…..
