Kampala: According to the press release dated February 17, 2021, the Ugandan Education service commission through the Ministry of Education and Sports seeks to recruit 2,542 teachers for operational Grant-aided/ seed secondary schools constructed under UGIFT programs.
Among the categories thirsty for these teachers include;
1. 82 Operational seed secondary schools.
This category of seed school has been operational since 2019 and has sitting teachers who will be given priority.
Interviews will be held in the respective schools from 22nd February- 13th March 2021. Each school was allocated 31 staff giving a total of 2,542 vacancies.
2. 18 non-operational seed secondary schools. Construction was completed for 18 seed secondary schools which to date have no teachers or students.
The Education service commission will advertise these vacancies after the recruitment of teachers in category (1) above. The expected number of vacancies is 554.
3 16 already existing government schools whose infrastructure has been expanded under the UGIFT programs.
The Ministry of Education and Sports will deploy staff under normal deployment following the completion of the recruitment exercise under Advert No. 4/2020 which stalled due to the COVID-19 lockdown. Interviews will be conducted in April 2021.
The Education service commission adds that since the introduction of Seed schools in 2010, Government has to date recruited 9,612 staff for a total of 356 seed schools in Uganda.
