Joe Kigozi Academy (JKA), a leading sports academy and proud member of BNI Uganda, is set to make history with the first-ever Autism Awareness Run 2025, slated for April 5th, 2025, at Acres of Fun Preschool in Muyenga.

The event, themed “Run for Autism Awareness”, is dedicated to raising critical awareness and support for individuals and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in Uganda. The run seeks to shed light on the challenges faced by the autism community, while promoting inclusion, understanding, and acceptance.

Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication, behavior, and social interaction. In Uganda, resources and support systems for individuals living with autism remain limited, creating significant challenges for families and caregivers. This run comes at a crucial time to amplify awareness and mobilize resources for much-needed interventions.

“Autism affects a growing number of individuals, and it’s crucial that we come together as a community to foster understanding, acceptance, and provide essential resources,” said Joseph Kigozi, CEO and Founder of Joe Kigozi Academy.

“As JKA, we have always believed in empowering young people—not only through sports but by standing for causes that matter. This Autism Awareness Run is about creating a better, more inclusive society where every child has the opportunity to thrive,” he added.

How Funds Will Make A Difference

Participants are required to pay a registration fee of UGX 50,000, which covers a complete kit including a branded T-shirt and cap. Payments can be made via MOMO Pay using Merchant ID: 612305. Proceeds from the Autism Awareness Run 2025 will be used to fund the following critical initiatives:

🔹 Therapeutic Programs: Offering access to therapies that can significantly improve communication and social skills for children with autism.
🔹 Educational Resources: Providing schools and families with tools and training to better support autistic individuals.
🔹 Community Outreach: Promoting awareness and creating inclusive environments to reduce stigma.
🔹 Family Support: Establishing support groups and resources for families navigating autism-related challenges.
