Mbarara: Over 1604 students graduated with degrees and diplomas from Bishop Stuart University (BSU) in Mbarara district, on Saturday October 19, 2019.
The Chief Guest at the graduation ceremony was His Excellence Henk Jan Bakker, the Ambassador of Netherlands to Uganda.
While addressing the graduands, ambassador Henk urged graduates to invest the skills gained from the University to earn a better living and act as agents of development in their country, plus becoming winners in the competitive job market.
The University Chancellor, who is also bishop of Ankole diocese Rev. DR. Fred Mwesigwa Sheldon, embraced graduands with their respective awards. He advised them to engage God in whatever they are planning to do and also to be a sight for success by implementing what they have been taught for the years they have been at the university.
According to the office of the Academic Registrar at BSU, this was the 15th graduation ceremony during which 38 students graduated with Masters degree, 35 students with postgraduate diplomas and 1058 with Bachelors degrees and 4050 students with diplomas, plus 23 who scopped certificates in different fields of study.
Out of the graduands 52% were males and 48% females.
However, the BSU Public Relations Officer(PRO) Maud Kamatenesi noted that the Vice Chancellor urgued students to always be the light while at work but not darkness.
“You’re now set free to go and compete in this competitive job market. As graduates from a Christian based university, you are supposed to do away with vices like corruption, and all bad acts most especially those that tarnish our country’s reputation,” the Vice Chancellor said.
