Jinja: Shortly after a group of heavily armed security operatives raided Ntinda based Baba TV and arrested veteran journalist Basajja Mivule over allegations of promoting sectarianism, Jinja Central Police Station has summoned Baba FM journalist and Busoga’s popular comedian Hussein Muyonjo Ibanda aka Swengere.
This was revealed by Swengere, who on Monday posted on his Facebook page summons indicating that he is required to appear at Jinja CPS tomorrow July 28th, 2020 on charges of disobeying lawful orders and inciting violence.

This however comes after police last week arrested the programs director of Baba FM Twahir Ddamulira and five others, who were detained them at Nalufenya police post over unknown charges.
According to Swengere, the radio station’s journalists are being arrested for hosting Bobi Wine and supporting the People Power movement.
He also revealed that the police hinted on arresting more Baba FM presenters who include; Kalyowa Atanansi, Kasolo Alton and Namulondo Zakia aka Mama Kalibbala.
This follows the arrest of veteran journalist Basajja Mivule aka Bwadene Nsolonkambwe , who was arrested Monday morning by security operatives who raided Baba TV. Mivule had a morning show on TV but, on arrival at the station, plain clothed security operatives bundled him into a vehicle and whisked him to unknown detention center.

His arrest came a few days after he shared a video on social media, in which he says that he received a phone call from security operatives who said they were from the Directorate of Criminal Intelligence (CID), in the Uganda Police Force, notifying him that he was urgently needed to report to the former Director of Counter Terrorism at the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) a one Brigadier Ddamulira.
“Four members of Bizonto were arrested on offences of promoting sectarianism while Kiweewa is detained on offences of offensive communication,” Assistant Superintendent of Police Charles Twiine Mansio, the CID spkesperson said.
