The latest from our State House sources indicate that HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has appointed Michael Atingi-Ego as a full Governor of the Bank of Uganda. At the same time, Augustus Nuwagaba has been named the new Deputy Governor.
Atingi-Ego has previously been serving as the interim Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda.
Atingi-Ego’s appointment comes after the passing of Emmanuel Tumusiime-Mutebile, who served as the Governor of the Bank of Uganda from 2001 until his death on January 23, 2022.
Mutebile was a renowned economist and played a crucial role in shaping Uganda’s economic landscape during his tenure.

This development is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s economic landscape, and market watchers will be keenly observing the new leadership’s moves.
