Just In: Parliament Bus Catches Fire, 25 COVID-19 Patients On Board

Jinja: The parliamentary bus that was being used to evacuate 25 COVID-19 patients from Kitgum to Kampala has caught fire-TheSpy Uganda reports..

The incident has occured today September 17, 2020,  in Koro trading along Gulu-Kampala highway at around 4pm.

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, Patrick Jimmy Okema said the bus registration number UG 0391 H burst into flames and couldn’t tell whether any of the people on the bus sustained injuries.

“A team of fire officers from Koro rushed to extinguish the fire but it had caused extensive damage to the automobile by the time they arrived,” Patrick said.

The ministry  of Health Spokesperson, Emmanuel  Ainebyoona has confirmed the incident and said the Bus caught fire under unclear circumstances in Koro, Gulu district.

He however added that no one has been injured in the accident as everyone was removed safely from the bus.

Ainebyona has also confirmed that the patients will still travel to Kampala by other means while police investigate the exact cause of the fire.
