Just Like PAM Awards, Is Miss Uganda A Scam?

By Spy Uganda

The Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards is among the unsuccessful awards due to the allegations of selling awards for financial gains. Now, this aside, Miss Uganda organizers are on the spot over the same fraudulent and shameful acts.

According to several reports, it is alleged that the pageant is a money fraud and a sex scheme and that contestants pay over Ugx60m for the crown.

These come hours after Natasha Nyonyozi was crowned Miss Uganda 2024/25 on Saturday, August 3, at an event held at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala.

In a viral social media clip making rounds on social media, one contestant Lourine Adyero among other terrible allegations, says that she was told to pay Ugx60m to be considered in the contest which she couldn’t raise and as a result of this, she was informed that she couldn’t go on since she was poor like a church mouse.

Many Ugandans took to social media to express their disappointment and disgust at the treatment of the contestants, with some activists advocating for the boycotting of the contest;

Ziyada Muhammad: Thank you for exposing them. And I love your boldness 💪
Caroline M Leah: Now this makes a lot of sense why we see some people winning and not ones the audience is seeing. Who remembers what exactly happened during Hannah’s crowning?

Sandra Abenakyo: Zytun Charles my dear pageants here in Ug or even elsewhere are money milking schemes.
