Sheema: Following the decision by the High court and the guidance from the President of Uganda Gen Yoweir Kaguta Museveni, the Minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs, who is also the Sheema South Constituency MP Hon. Prof Ephraim Kamuntu, on Friday handed over Shs20M cash to Sheema District Task force against COVID 19.
While handing over the money, Kamuntu explained that the problem with the Shs10Bn which was passed by the Parliamentary Commission is that it didn’t pass through the cabinet committee, hence being illegal, and that as a constitutional Minister, he had to abide by Uganda’s Constitution .
He later urged the District Task force team led by RDC Frank Kyereere to use the money accordingly by putting much emphasis on supporting the front line staff especially medical workers, by giving them enough facilitation and quality protective gears, because they have offered their lives to rescue the lives of the rest of the world by fighting against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“And Mr RDC take note of this one, this Shs20M I have handed over to the CAO, should only be used in all Sheema South constituency health centres. Don’t cross to Sheema North or municipality, because the good this is every MP received the same money for their respective constituencies, so they will also help their constituencies,” Minister Kamuntu said.
After handing over the money Kamuntu also donated Shs600,000 cash and other items ilke Infrared thermometers 4 computers, 32 boxes , Clinical gloves 130 boxes, sanitisers 45tonnes and 18 jerrycans of Liquid soap all valued 19.9M and also instructed the RDC to distribute them in Sheema South constituency health centres only.
