Kabarole Fugitive Skips Arrest After Kidnapping, Attempt To Murder School Child

Police in Kabarole District is hunting down a notorious criminal for attempting to murder and rape a school child.

According a police statement recorded as  attempted murder vide Fort Portal CRB 223/202, reported by Mutwama Paul a security master for Kyebambe Girls’SS, the criminal only known Mugume Amos attempted to rape an S5 student known as Nagawa Lucky of the same school.

“The victim is Nagawa Lucy a female adult aged 21 years student in s5 at Kyebambe Girls’ SS in Fort Portal City, Kabarole District,” reads police statement.

According to police, it’s alleged that on 04/3/2021 at about 2200hrs, the victim left others in class and went to the latrine to ease herself.

While still there, an unknown man (described as Mugume Amos a known kidnapper and now a fugitive) appeared and grabbed her by hand and dragged her from the latrine into a nearby bush. He ordered her to keep quiet but when she continued making alarm, the thug stabbed her in the head causing her injuries. During the scuffle, another girl who had come for a short call heard her friend screaming in the bush and reached there and also made an alarm. This attracted other students and when the thug saw others coming he ran away with his knife. The case was later reported at Fort Portal Police Station in the morning on 05/02/2021.

Police says the suspect used advantage of the bush which was near the latrine to lie in wait for the victims.

“There suspect had wanted to either rape, murder or kidnap the victim but the situation was saved by her friends who made an alarm and he took off,” reads police statement.

Police says that the scene was visited by the D/CID/0, SOCO, OC Homicide and others.

“Scene documented and examined by the SOCO. Different exhibits recovered from the scene,” adds police statement.

Further more, police canine was introduced to the scene but lost track after about 1 km of tracking. School Administration met and students were advised to always move in groups.

The victim was visited at Kabarole Hospital where she had been admitted, but she requested to make her statement after testing as she was still in pain.

Meanwhile, we have since learnt that the hunt for the suspect continues as he was already a wanted suspect in different kidnap cases.
