Sheema: Kabwohe daily market traders in Sheema municipality blame their municipality political leaders for abandoning them during the current difficult situation of the Coronavirus COVID-19 lockdown.
The angry traders who deal in food stuffs, said that although they usually see political leaders in areas like Sheema North and Sheema South sensitizing and helping their people in one way or another, for them in Sheema municipality they have never even seen the Chairman LC1 going to their market to talk to them, although they report their problems to all the leaders.
Some of the traders told this reporter that they last saw
their Member of Parliament, who is also Minister for Science and Technology,
Hon Dr Elioda Tumwesigye, in 2018, when he went to the market to ask for votes.
That after getting what he wanted he forgot whatever he had promised them, which they allege, may be the reason he fears to return to the market, thinking that they might demand for what he promised, yet all they want is to inform him about the current hard situation they are facing during this struggle with COVID-19.
But putting COVID-19 issues aside, it should be remembered that during the Sheema Municipality by-elections in 2018, one of the Sheema municipality leaders promised the traders that if elected, he was to connect their market with hydroelectricity power but up to now they are still wallowing in darkness.
