A 65-year-old man, Kyakwaire Sipiriano, a resident of Kakone I Village in Bwera Sub-county, Kasese District, has been arrested on charges of murder after allegedly stabbing his wife to death. The incident occurred on March 17, 2025, at approximately 1:30 p.m. in their matrimonial home.

According to police reports, the deceased had visited her relatives in Mughnese Cell, Nsenyi Ward, Kisinga Town Council, earlier in the day. Upon her return, she found her husband, Kyakwaire Sipiriano, at home. Witnesses and preliminary investigations suggest that the deceased began packing her belongings, apparently preparing to leave the residence.
It is alleged that upon realizing her intentions, Sipiriano locked all the exit doors, preventing her from leaving. In a fit of rage, he reportedly grabbed a sharp knife and stabbed her in the stomach, leading to her tragic death.

Police at Bwera Division were immediately alerted and responded swiftly to the scene. The suspect, Sipiriano, was arrested, and the crime scene was cordoned off to allow for further investigations.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Police Spokesperson for Kasese, confirmed the arrest and provided details of the incident. “We have in custody Kyakwaire Sipiriano, a 65-year-old male, who is suspected of murdering his wife by stabbing her in their home. Our officers acted promptly upon receiving the report, and the suspect is currently detained as investigations continue to establish the motive behind this heinous act,” Tumushime stated.
The police have urged the public to remain calm as they work to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder. The body of the deceased has been taken to a nearby hospital for a postmortem examination.
This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many calling for justice and an end to domestic violence. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the suspect faces the full force of the law once investigations are concluded.
