Kasese: Twenty Arrested For Inciting Violence In A Terrible Attack Against Basongora

In a swift response to escalating tensions, twenty suspects were arrested in Hima Division, Kasese District, on charges of inciting violence. The suspects, who were reportedly armed with hoes, pangas, and sticks, were taken into custody by police after confronting Basongora cattle keepers in Kabukero Village, Karusandara Subcounty.

According to eyewitnesses, the confrontation between the suspects and the Basongora herders caused significant alarm in the community. The situation was promptly addressed when the police, led by District Police Commander (DPC) SP Suzan Nerima Bwire, arrived on the scene and took control of the situation, ensuring the safety of local residents.

Kasese Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, emphasized the urgency of resolving the ongoing land-related disputes, which have contributed to the tensions in the area. He called for a collaborative effort from all stakeholders to address the issue swiftly and peacefully.

The arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Monday, February 17, 2025, where they will face charges related to inciting violence.

Local authorities have reassured the community of their commitment to maintaining peace and order, urging residents to remain calm as the legal process unfolds.
