Territorial police in Kassanda has registered a Child Stealing case of Maseruka George Junior, a male juvenile aged 2 months, son of Muleleneza Donatia and Maseruka George, residents of Mugoba ‘B’ village, Mundade parish, Kitumbi sub-county in Kassanda district.
It’s alleged that on 14/02/2022, Maleneneza took the baby to the clinic at Bulimimula trading centre for treatment since he had woken up with a skin infection.
According to Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Kawala Racheal, Muleneneza set off from her home at around 12:00pm and footed up to the clinic at around 4pm.
“When she reached there, the doctor examined the child and gave her directives accordingly. She then left the clinic,” says Kawala.
She adds that on her way back home, Muleleneza met unidentified people, two men and one woman in the swamp of new forest company standing alongside the road who pretended to know her and started congratulating her to have given birth to the baby.
They requested her to uncover the baby such that they could see him but she declined since she didn’t know them.
“Then one of the men kicked her. As she fell down, the woman and another man grabbed the child from her and took off through the forest,” says Kawala adding,”she tried following them but failed to trace them.”
She says Police task teams responded to the scene upon receiving the information and efforts are underway to have the baby recovered.
