KCCA Authority Vow To Punish Errant Law Enforcers

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) that sat Monday 11/March/2019 in the Authority Chambers at City Hall has resolved to prosecute nine (9) errant KCCA Law Enforcement officers who have made it a a habit to torture street vendors.

The nine include; Bwire, Jjemba Rogers, Bernard, Wampamba, Mukalazi, Kato, Muyimbwa, Kabiito and Mutebi Henry.

The motion to have them prosecuted was moved by lord councilor for Hon. Nyanjura Doreen, the female member representing Makerere University and was backed by majority members.

City Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago further reminded the authority that the The Prevention and Prohibition of Torture Act, 2012, particularly, Section 12(b) is among the articles they were to use against the errant officers of the authority. He warned all the enforcement officers to be more careful when carrying out their duties.

The Law requires a public prosecutor or a police officer to lay a charge against a person before a magistrate and requesting the issue of a warrant or summons.
