Kampala: Renowned sports pundit and media personality, Patrick Kanyomozi has officially retired from his spanning career as a sports reporter and active journalist after over 13 years of dedicated service to the media industry. Our impeccable sources intimated to us that Kanyomozi is poised to join his role model Ssentamu Kyagulanyi’s National Unity Platform (NUP), and could be going into full-scale politics.

Kanyomozi, husband to Capital FM’s Lucky Mbabazi sealed off his remarkable tenure as he hosted his final show on December 29, 2023 on KFM, marking the official conclusion of his active journalism career.

Expressing gratitude and deep satisfaction, Kanyomozi reflected on his lifelong aspiration to be a radio presenter, a dream realized since his first radio job during his S.6 vacation.

”I made my final appearance on @933kfm this morning as I retire from radio and active journalism. I leave a very contented man because from a very young age, all I ever wanted to do was to be a Radio Presenter, I was lucky to get my first radio job in my S6 vacation and never looked back. I have lived my dream. I give glory to the most high” Kanyomozi said in a statement.

Acknowledging the support he received throughout his radio and journalism journey, Kanyomozi extended his gratitude to colleagues, co-workers and most importantly the listeners who played a pivotal role in shaping his career.

“I am very grateful to everyone that gave me a hand on my radio and journalism journey. To everyone I have worked with or alongside, thank you. To the listeners, thank you so much, without you I wouldn’t be where I am,” he added.

Kanyomozi started his radio career as a news reader during his S.6 vacation, progressing through Prime Radio before joining KFM in 2008.

His passion for sports elevated him to becoming one of Uganda’s pioneering and high-profile sports journalists and eventually serving as the President of the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).

Having started as the assistant organizing secretary for USPA in 2008, Kanyomozi assumed the role of USPA president in 2019 before securing a re-election for a second term in 2021.

Beyond his successful journalism career, Kanyomozi is a devoted family man, having married Lucky Mbabazi in a traditional ceremony in 2016.
