Maria Nagirinya, an employee of Community Intergrated Develoment Initiatives, a Non-governmental organisation (NGO), who was abducted on Wednesday night outside her home in Lungujja, was brutally murdered with her driver her body dumped in a trench in Mukono district.
Family sources reveal that Nagirinya’s corpse was recovered by the police on Friday morning, after being in Nakitutuli village, Nama division in Mukono district by her killers.
Eyewtinesses revealed that the body was found lying a pool of blood, with several wounds and marks of struggle.
Nagirinya and her driver only identified as Ronnie were kidnapped on Wednesday night as they drove in her a Spacio registration number UBA 570V to her home in Lungujja, a city suburb.
Her car was later abandoned in Kitooro Zone, Nateete in where the police recovered it after mounting a hunt for her all over the country.
However, the police were later alerted by locals in Nakitutuli village after they landed ona corpse of an unidentified woman.
After consulting with some of her family members, the police removed the corpse from the crime scene and transferred it to Mulago Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
The police are currently conducting investigations into Nagirinya’s gruesome murder and will issue a statement about the same when they finalise the inquest to establish who could have kidnapped her and why they killed her.
