Kampala: TheSpy Uganda published a story a few days ago in which we revealed that students at Kyambogo University attend lectures while sitting on the floor and others standing.
Well, guys after we published the story, the University administration has finally acted by procuring a consignment of new chairs for students.
Shortly after receiving the chairs at the University, the Vice Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka proudly snapped them and posted the snaps on his Facebook timeline with the caption; “This is the new auditorium furniture being installed in the central teaching facility. This will modernise the University and reduce the shortage of teaching space, conference facilities and seats.”
He added that “Thanks to the Government HEST programme. Best Regards.”
Well, we hope this will save students from sitting in dirt or standing for hours during lectures.
Meanwhile, in other news, Jonathan Tundulu, the University guild president who was last week impeached, was on Friday arrested by UPDF soldiers and LDUs, before being whisked to a yet to be identified detention centre.
Tundulu was brutalised by soldiers as he and his supporters tried to protest against the impeachment. His arrest came shortly after Prof. Katunguka had warned students to desist from causing unrest at the University because of Tundulu’s impeachment. (magnumcompanies.co)
However, neither the University nor the police has come out to issue a statement about his arrest.
