Kyambogo University Postpones Guild Elections Due To Lack Of Ballot Papers

Kyambogo University Guild elections have been postponed due to the delays in procuring ballot papers.

The elections were slated to take place today March 10, 2020.

Professor Eli Katunguka the Vice-Chancellor Kyambogo University in a letter to the university students noted that the ballot papers would not be ready for delivery to the university before the elections. 

He revealed that the company that was contracted with the job to print the ballot papers wrote to them saying it would not meet the deadline.

March 17, 2020 has been set as the new date for the elections.

Katunguka asked the students to remain calm as the Electoral Commission reorganizes the election roadmap.

“I want to use this opportunity to urge the Electoral Commission to adhere to the electoral guidelines, remain independent, impartial and transparent in your undertakings for you to deliver a smooth and credible election. “he said.

Reuben Twinomujuni the University senior Public relations officer says that the elections have been postponed to March 17th. He says the company that was contracted to print the ballot papers informed the university that they would not meet the deadline. 

The race has nine candidates. They are; Trust Nduwayo Mugisha (Democratic Party) , Jonathan Tayebwa (National Resistance Movement), John Mbaziira (People power)  and Colline Kigaye, Daniel Markmot  (Alliance for National Transformation) and independent candidates, Onai Emmanuel Peter, Julius Ssuubi Ceasor, Sharifu Mugenyi, and David Ochola.
