Police in Luweero has arrested a woman for stealing a one-day old baby boy from Lacoh Hospital.
Juliet Ndagire 32, a resident of Luweero Trading Centre ,a born of Kiboga District was arrested on Thursday morning at her home after police got a tip off from one of her neighbors.
Ndagire allegedly stole the baby from Lacor Hospital in the wee hours of Wednesday morning after lying to the mother,a one Peace Katusabe that she was a medical staff who wanted to take the baby for weighing.
Savannah regional Police Spokesperson Paul Kangave confirmed Ndagire’s arrest saying that she was going to be charged with theft and child kidnap.
“When we interrogated her, she claimed that she had stolen the baby because she had lied to her husband who is currently in Somalia that she had delivered. Knowing that he is coming back, she wanted him to find her with a baby boy,”he said.
Kanganve said after the investigations, she will be produced in courts of law soon.
