Over twenty (20) people have been reported dead and others left with injuries after landslides hit Bulambuli District on Tuesday August 27.
The Landslides came due to heavy rains that started at 11:00am. These also buried gardens, fish ponds and killed animals.
Bridges and roads connecting to other sub-counties and roads have been cut off.
According to reports, most affected sub-counties are Bulaago, Buluganya, Lusha, Simu, Nabiwutulu, and Bumasobo.
Christopher Macheri, the Vice-Chairperson Buffalo Sub County said that the landslides started from Mountain Elgon Park.
Simon Peter Wananzogu, the LCV Chairperson Bulambuli said, they have many people who are missing following the landslides.
He said that the district is yet to face hunger calamities because many of the gardens have been destroyed.
