LDC’s Alarming Failure Rate Leaves Students In Tears,90 Percent To Cough Millions For Retakes

Kampala: The Law Development Center (LDC), the only institution in Uganda that offers the Bar Course leading to the award of the post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice has left many wondering after 90 percent of 2019/2020 students failed final exams.

According to LDC, their library has been updated with written literature as well as increased Internet access for students to improve their performance but this year’s results have caused quite an alarm with some students saying the institution should not have exposed their poor performance to the general public.

According to records, a total number of 1474 Students, only 145 made the cut (61 from the Mbarara campus and 84 from LDC Kampala accounting for a 9.837177748% success rate, 1329 Students terribly failed to account for a failure rate of 90.16282225(%)

In 2018, the government of Uganda approved plans to establish regional campuses of the LDC in the Eastern Ugandan town of Mbale, Western Region, Mbarara, and Northern Region, Lira. The Mbarara campus was established and operationalized effectively in the 2018/2019 financial year.

LDC Student’s Results

Now the students will have to cough millions of money to repeat the failed subject in Post Graduate Bar Course and Post Call Courses as indicated below;

  • Post Graduate Bar Course Compulsory Subject – Group A costs UGX 1,500,000
  • Post Call Bar Course costs UGX 1,500,000
  • Post-Call Foundation Course costs UGX 1,000,000
  • Post Graduate Bar Course Compulsory Subject – GroupB costs UGX 1,000,000
