Life First! FUFA Cancels Regional Leagues For 2020/2021 Season Due To COVID-19 Effects

Kampala: According to the latest we are receiving on our sports desk, the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has cancelled its regional leagues for the 2020/2021 season.

FUFA says the decision is derived from the hiccups caused by the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

“Due to supervisory and logistical hiccups caused by the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic, FUFA has decided to cancel the FUFA Regional Leagues for the 2020/2021 season,” says FUFA.

The federation reveals that efforts will be diverted to an early and timely kickoff of the 2021/2022 Regional League season.

”We urge everyone to continue and intensify efforts in the fight to stop the spread of COVID -19 in the Country. Together we can control the spread of the virus,” adds FUFA.

In the same regard of fighting COVID-19, FUFA recently directed all clubs not to admit fans to the stadiums until further notice.

FUFA had earlier allowed up to 200 fans to watch FUFA organised and FUFA authorized competitions with strong adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This is no longer tenable in the current situation.
