‘Locusts Are A Punishment From God Because Of Uganda’s Sins’-Alenyo

During this week’s Pan-African Pyramid debate, held at Fairway Hotel, under the topic; ‘How United Is The African Continent In Fighting Three Life-threatening Pandemics: Locusts, Coronavirus and Floods?’, it was revealed that Uganda faces an imminent catastrophe following the desert locusts attack.

Lawyer and author, George William Alenyo presents his case before the attentive audience on Friday at Fairway Hotel

The debate, which was attended by several youths mostly from Metropolitan University, elders and lecturers from different institutions of higher learning, was opened by PAP Speaker Andrew Irumba Katusabe, who wondered as to why African states couldn’t fight locusts when they were still in their breeding spots, but waited for them to invade other countries and then started fighting them individually, yet there is an African stand by force against locusts, whose money all member states contribute.  “Is that the African unity we’re talking about?” the Speaker wondered.

After his opening remarks, Irumba invited the main speaker for the night, George William Alenyo, the Executive Director Institute of Hebrew Studies, and a celebrated author of several books one of them titled; ‘Deal in the Desert’, which he wrote referring to the meeting between former presidents Bill Clinton (US) and Muamar Gaddafi (Libya) in the Libyan deserts that has since turned out to be a controversial meeting.

A lenyo, an excelent lawyer with decades of experience in legal practice is also remembered as a senior former legal assistant to current Chief Justice of Uganda Bart Katurebe.

He started his presentation by condemning the whites who conquered the African continent and started re-writing our history. He gave an example of Lake Albert which was initially called Lake Mwitanzige, a name that had been derived from the first generation of locusts that invaded Uganda in past decades and were killed by the lake, hence the name ‘mwita nzige’.

Kyambogo University’s Senior Administrator and Lecturer David Kasuti pinches holes in part of Alenyo’s presentation although he agreed with on a number of issues raised in his presentation

Counsel Alenyo said that he was not surprised with the current pandemics hitting Uganda and the rest of African one after the other, because God is annoyed with us. “I’m not surprised by these pandemics we see today because all these were prophesied in the Bible 2000 years ago. So those who have been reading the holy book must have been aware of what was to happen since the book of Joel (Yoweri, which is Museveni’s name) 2:25 and Amos (which is name to Museveni’s late dad Amos Kaguta) say that locusts are ‘An army of God which he sends to the sinful nations.’”

Alenyo added that everyone should follow the Bible since it’s the source of revelation for what will even happen in years to come.

He referred the audience to the book of Exodus 10:13, which says that “East winds brought locusts which are also called trade winds.”

He also quoted Exodus 10: 13-14, which says that “So Moses stretched out his staff over the land of Egypt, and throughout that day and night the LORD sent an east wind across the land. By morning the east wind had brought the locusts.

And the locusts swarmed over the whole land of Egypt, settling in dense swarms from one end of the country to the other. It was the worst locust plague in Egyptian history, and there has never been another one like it.”

Alenyo noted that this is already the case today, giving an example of Gaba, a Kampala suburb, where he said three hundred homes have been flooded because L. Victoria water rose by 6 meters, which is likely to cause more flooding, adding that it’s a sign Uganda has committed numerous sins.

Africa Mathias Lutwama dissecting Alenyo’s presentation

Alenyo revealed that by July 2020, Uganda will have 500 times more locusts than what we have today and shall have 7 times much more water compared to what we have today, quoting a recent report by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

He asked Ugandans to repent sins like corruption, homosexuality and all other forms of evil to save the country from further catastrophe from God since this is the root cause for all the pandemics happening now.

He gave an example of Italy, which he said is the most corrupt and has several homosexuals, reason why it is one of the European countries that are most affected by Coronavirus.

However, David Kasuti, a senior lecturer and administrator at Kyambogo University, disagreed with Alenyo, saying that he believes the God of today is advanced and no longer punishes with locusts, since locusts are like any other pests, so they are no longer an ‘army of God’, but normal occurencies.

Kasuti also disagreed with Alenyo who had quoted the book of Nahum 7:17, which says that ‘this army of mine you won’t find them in the morning but you will find them at night’ as was the case when Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF) found it hard to trace them.

Kasuti said locusts don’t fly but only glide following the directions of the winds.  He noted that locusts moving at night is not biblical but a theory because of the mirage of waters which shines brighter at night.

What Is Pan-Africanism?

Pan-Africanism is an ideology and movement that encourages the solidarity of Africans worldwide. It is based on the belief that unity is vital for economic, social, and political progress and aims at ‘Unifying and Uplifting’ people of African descent.

The ideology asserts that the fate of all African peoples and countries is intertwined. At its core, Pan-Africanism is “a belief that African peoples, both on the continent and in the diaspora, share not merely a common history, but a common destiny”

Pan-African Pyramid Vision:

To articulate the concerted efforts geared towards promoting the true African Awakening among the BLACK people throughout Africa and in the Diaspora, and galvanize inventions and innovations of the African people.

Pan African Pyramid Mission:

To REVIVE intellectual discourse among the youths with a bias of re-constructing our lost Pan-Africanism, patriotism and Nationalism Values and spirit.
